Iguana - St. Croix, Virgin Islands

The Iguana is a type of lizard native to tropical areas and can be found throughout the US Virgin Islands and the Lesser Antilles.  The Lesser Antillean Iguana, which is endemic to the US Virgin Islands, is endangered due to habitat destruction. Some may seem friendly because they are used to tourists feeding them, but beware, they can be nasty! When threatened they will use their spiny tail as a whip.
