St Croix Horseback Riding

There is great horseback riding on St. Croix, some of the best in the U.S.
Virgin Islands, that allows riders of all ability to see Danish ruins,
ride through a rain forest and other coastal areas. Whether you are staying at a
St Croix hotel or in a villa or condo,
get yourself out for a horseback ride...this is something that should not be
overlooked!

Enjoy a
combination nature tour of Rain Forest and beach on horseback. No experience
necessary. Families welcome. Riders of every skill level are accommodated. With
over 35 years of experience, Jill, owner/ guide, matches horses to riders of all
experience levels. Most rides are of mixed experiences. Families with kids go
at a slow walk/ trot pace, while seniors may prefer a snails pace. Those with
more experience under 200 lbs., please give several days’ notice for a more
active ride. Helmets are available, but not mandatory.
Ride through
shady rain forest trails to “Cowboy Beach” for a beautiful picture stop with a
background of tall palms, sand, and crystal clear sea. Jill will take pictures
of each group using your own camera. Then fulfill your fantasy of a ride along
the white sand beach as you admire the different shades of aqua, turquoise and
sapphire blue sea. Pass historic sugar plantation ruins over grown by the brush
and an African Baobab tree . Other interesting trees on the tour are giant Rain
Trees whose leaves fold up at night, the “Tourist” tree with red peeling skin
bark, a Kapok Tree from which “silk cotton” was used for stuffing life jackets,
and several Strangler Fig trees that killed their host tree, the best one of
which is nick-named “The Avatar Tree”. The ride takes 1 ½ hours in the saddle
but allow an extra half hour for check in and afterwards for a sample of
complimentary refreshment of Tamarind, Guava, & Passion fruit juice.
Located 1 ½
miles north of Frederiksted just off Rt. 63 North on Rt.58, Creque Dam Rain
Forest Rd., at #2 Estate Sprat Hall.
